Florida DrupalCamp

Coding for a Cause Application

Eligibility: Florida Not-for-Profit Organizations
Deadline: February 5, 2010

Coding for a Cause brings together Florida's most active Drupal developers to build a highly interactive website for a worthy Florida-based non-profit organization. The day-long collaborative session is part of Florida DrupalCamp, the largest professional Drupal event in the state, in Orlando on February 20 & 21, 2009.

Drupal is a free, open source software package that allows organizations and a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website. It is especially useful for organizations that seek to build online communities and create websites with e-commerce functions, blogs, forums, newsletters, photo galleries, and peer-to-peer networking. Visit Drupal.org for more information.

The organizers of Florida DrupalCamp will select one organization to be the recipient of the web site. Drupal's strengths include community-based sites with lots of user interaction. We are looking for an organization that will benefit from this, has a clear idea of how to leverage it for their organization's benefit, and is willing to commit staff and/or volunteer time to maintaining the resulting site.

Organizations will be selected based on the following criteria:
Need/Desire to build an online community
Willingness to meet with organizers/planners prior to the event,
Ability to devote staff/volunteers to attending DrupalCamp and Coding for a Cause
Commitment of staff and/or volunteers to maintain and promote the site following the event
